Sugar beet cultivation is constantly facing new challenges. Plant diseases, digitalisation, integrated pest management, varietal performance, sustainable farming systems and biodiversity are key issues. The complex issues raised by current problems can only be successfully addressed through interdisciplinary research approaches. The Institute of Sugar Beet Research, with its intensive network in science and industry, provides the ideal framework for the necessary integrative approaches. Our research is team-based and characterised by a balance between disciplinary depth and interdisciplinary openness and breadth.
