Organisation
The Institute of Sugar Beet Research (IfZ) has been located in Holtenser Landstraße in Göttingen since 1953. The IfZ is a research institution that operates as a non-profit organisation for research and development. The IfZ is supported by the Verein der Zuckerindustrie e.V. based in Berlin. The Verein der Zuckerindustrie provides a supervisory body, the Institute Committee.
The IfZ has the status of an affiliated institute of the Georg-August University of Göttingen and is committed to the good scientific practice of the university. It works closely with the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences in teaching and research. The entire infrastructure and administration of the IfZ are self-sufficient. The director of the IfZ with its eight departments is Prof. Dr. Anne-Katrin Mahlein.
